Iran has firmly rejected any involvement in the conflict taking place in Yemen, stating that the Houthi forces act autonomously and make their own strategic decisions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, emphasized that Tehran refrains from meddling in Yemeni affairs and dismissed allegations connecting Iran to the recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. According to Baghaei, the turmoil in Yemen stems from long-standing internal issues rather than external influences.
In addition, Baghaei disclosed that a scheduled meeting in Oman, which was to include Iran and Gulf countries, has been delayed at the behest of Saudi Arabia. This meeting was initially planned to focus on enhancing regional security and fostering cooperation among the involved nations. Although postponed, the session was anticipated to allow Iran and Oman to elaborate on a mutual agreement regarding maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this delay, Baghaei assured that the understanding between Iran and Oman is complete and that they will determine the next steps independently.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, explained that the regional meeting was postponed with the intention of supporting a broader consensus. He reiterated Oman’s dedication to fostering dialogue and ensuring stability in the region, while also emphasizing the importance of long-term collaboration among neighboring countries.
